Evaluations Overview and Pricing

We offer a free initial consultation (15-30 minutes) to discuss the primary area(s) of concern and any history of previous evaluations/therapy, as well as to do a preliminary screening. Based on this discussion, we can determine what, if any, further evaluation makes sense.

It should be remembered that language evaluation is ideally a dynamic and flexible process that allows communication to be sampled across a range of contexts. Standardized testing is only one of those contexts. When conducted in this way, an evaluation provides a much better basis for a differential diagnosis and meaningful treatment plan.

Although each evaluation is customized to the needs and temperament of the individual, below are the most common areas of concern and what an evaluation will entail. Specific activities and the number/length of sessions are determined largely by the needs and temperament of the individual.

Speech and Articulation - $350

up to 2 hours across 1-2 sessions

history and review of records
hearing screening
oral-motor examination
standardized testing & sound inventory
observation of speech, language, and social communication skills in the context of age-appropriate, structured, semi-structured and unstructured tasks
determination of intelligibility across contexts
full written report, w/ recommendations and, where appropriate, diagnosis and treatment goals
follow up consultation (15-30 minutes) to discuss findings and recommendations, and to address any questions

Receptive/Expressive Language - $450

up to 3 hours across 1-3 sessions

history and review of records
hearing screening
oral-motor examination
standardized testing for receptive and expressive vocabulary
standardized testing for receptive and expressive language
observation of speech, language, and social communication skills in the context of age-appropriate structured, semi-structured and unstructured tasks
full written report, w/ recommendations and, where appropriate, diagnosis and treatment goals
follow up consultation (15-30 minutes) to discuss findings and recommendations, and to address any questions

Social Communication - $450

up to 3 hours across 1-3 sessions

history and review of records
hearing screening
oral-motor examination
standardized testing targeting pragmatic skills
standardized testing to rule out receptive and expressive language disorders (if a significant delay/disorder is identified, a comprehensive evaluation should be conducted).
observation of speech, language, and social communication skills in the context of age-appropriate, structured, semi-structured and unstructured tasks.
full written report, w/ recommendations and, where appropriate, diagnosis and treatment goals.
follow up consultation (15-30 minutes) to discuss findings and recommendations, and to address any questions

Voice - $350

up to 2 hrs across 1-2 sessions

quantitative measures of pitch and volume across tasks
observational evaluation of vocal quality across tasks
observation of speech, language, and social communication skills in the context of age-appropriate, structured, semi-structured and unstructured tasks.

Fluency - $350

up to 2 hrs across 1-2 sessions

standardized measure of disfluencies across tasks (speech samples)
observation of speech, language, and social communication skills in the context of an age-appropriate, semi-structured task
determination of intelligibility across contexts
full written report, w/ recommendations and, where appropriate, diagnosis and treatment goals
follow up consultation (15-30 minutes) to discuss findings and recommendations, and to address any questions

Comprehensive Evaluation - $550 (+$100 for each additional hour)

up to 4 hours across 2-4 session sessions

standardized testing from 2 or more areas discussed above
observation of speech, language, and social communication skills in the context of age-appropriate structured, semi-structured and unstructured tasks
