Auditory Processing

​

Auditory processing disorder (APD) or Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD) is a deficit in how the brain processes auditory information, that is not the result of poor hearing acuity, attention or cognitive deficits. A diagnosis of Auditory Processing Disorder must be made by an Audiologist, but speech therapists are frequently first to suspect an auditory processing issue might be responsible for a child’s difficulties.
